Teradata ETL Specialist

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, test and document ETL programs from detailed and high level specifications, and assist in troubleshooting
  • Assist in the requirements analysis and subsequent developments
  • Perform data profiling and document results
  • Leverage tool specific optimization controls and components to develop optimal design and code
  • Conduct unit tests and assist in test preparations to ensure data integrity
  • Work closely with Designers, Business Analysts and other Developers
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Quality Assurance Analysts and Business Intelligence Consultants
  • Design and implement technical enhancements of Data Warehouse as required

Required Skills, Education, Knowledge and Experience

  • Working experience with Teradata is required
  • Experience working with Teradata utilities such as FastLoad, MultiLoad and BTEQ
  • Experience with TPump is an asset
  • Applicants who have worked with other ETL tools like SAP BusinessObjects Data Integrator / Data Services; IBM InfoSphere DataStage; Informatica PowerCenter & Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) are preferred. Using these tools with Teradata is a plus
  • Solid knowledge and experience with SQL, UNIX, Korn shell, C, RDMS (DB2, Oracle) and Data Warehousing
  • Solid understanding of data warehouse architecture with a dimensional data model
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Interest and ability to learn new ETL tools
  • Computer Science degree or diploma
