Entry-Level Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Consultants

Work with a team of Adastra consultants to complete data warehouse and business intelligence projects that incorporate requirements gathering; logical and physical data models including metadata, source system data analysis, source-to-target data mapping analysis and design; as well as ETL development and quality assurance.

    Your profile includes:

    • Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar/equivalent background
    • Proficiency with database development using SQL or similar languages
    • IT development background
    • Previous experience in data warehousing and business intelligence would be an asset
    • Ability to present complex subjects and alternatives in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences at various levels within an organization

    Entry-Level Big Data Developers

    Adastra Corporation is currently looking to hire new entry-level Big Data Developers in an effort to grow and foster its Big Data and Analytics practice. These new consultants start their training at Adastra Corporation’s head office in Markham, Ontario. After orientation and extensive training, consultants are placed on a client project once a suitable opportunity is available. The majority of our consultants work onsite at our clients’ offices, 90% of which are located within the GTA.

    Consultants at Adastra Corporation fill a variety of different roles with our clients, however, the Junior Big Data Developer position is tailored toward hands-on technical work using a number of today's leading Big Data tools including Hadoop.


    • Analyze, design, develop, test, document, and troubleshoot Big Data programs from detailed and high level specifications
    • Utilize HDFS, HIVE / Impala, Sqoop, Spark, Falcon, Atlas, Ambari, Ranger, Sentry, Python, Scala, and other ETL tools optimized for Big Data (Talend, Informatica BDE, Ataccama) to source, ingest, manipulate, load, and analyze data
    • Assist in requirements analysis and subsequent development
    • Conduct unit tests and assist in test preparations to ensure data integrity, data quality, and program quality
    • Work closely with designers, business analysts and other developers
    • Liaise with project managers, quality assurance analysts and Business Intelligence consultants
    • Design and implement technical enhancements of Big Data, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence solutions as required.

    Your profile includes:

    • Computer science, Math, or similar/equivalent background 
    • Some development experience, ideally using C++ or Java
    • Experience with UNIX
    • Knowledge of relational databases, including SQL

    Marketing Communications Specialist

    We are looking for someone who loves writing, is highly organized and has that unique ability to combine technology with creativity. Working closely with the Marketing Manager and tech industry experts, this person will develop and implement a communication program to support brand awareness and account development initiatives across target markets. With a strong emphasis on content creation, the candidate will be responsible for generating creative ideas to build innovative campaigns, and will produce various communication materials related to company offerings, marketing campaigns, success stories, and will support account management with proposal writing. The candidate will also manage all aspects of digital activities to establish a strong online presence. The ideal person brings enthusiasm, energy, and a can-do attitude to help grow this strategic role. 

    Skills required

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
    • 2+ years of B2B marketing communications experience
    • Outstanding English written and spoken communication skills
    • Strong organization skills in project and time management
    • Solid familiarity with common B2B social platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter) and how to efficiently leverage these channels to deliver compelling company communications
    • Understanding of concepts in SEO, advertising and how companies target and reach customers
    • Hands-on experience with Pipedrive, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Adobe - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator is a plus
