Use Cases and Demos - 12:30 - 3:30PM

Session 1: Investment Risk Reduction with Digital Twins

Digital twins are critical enablers for digitizing manufacturing processes. Adastra can create a replica of your optimized production line to ensure your facilities are running with maximum efficiency. Learn how digital twins are used to enable facility planning and how they can reduce investment risks.

Demo: Digital twins for facility use planning using virtual and mixed reality

Move between five 30 minute use case sessions and demos exploring how Adastra's manufacturing customers are achieving value from IIoT data through analytics.

Kamran Baqai, Consultant - Digital Twin, Adastra

Session 2: Supply Chain Optimization

A manufacturing company’s success heavily relies on the state of its supply chain and its ability to meet production demands. To foresee the unexpected, you must have a clear overview of the entire supply chain, from your suppliers’ delivery status to the production process. With accurate information captured at each point in your supply chain and detailed analytics, you will be able to proactively react, preventing disruptions.

Learn how to:

  • Leverage global supply chain to reduce vendor sourcing costs
  • Fulfill more warehouse orders with current staffing
  • Better leverage shipping and warehouse space
  • Ensure efficient and higher yield logistics
  • Optimize available resources for maximum production yields
  • Monitor shipments in real time for location / shock / tilt / temperature / opening telemetry

Demos:

  • Smart planning to optimize production runs
  • Smart routing to deliver improved logistics

Klara Benroth, Partnership and Presales Manager, Blindspot

Session 3: Condition Monitoring (IoT Analytics)

Sensors monitor the quality of the environment, including temperature, humidity, and dust. It’s not only about the health and safety of the workplace regarding employees but also about preventing malfunctions and optimizing production. Workplace safety is an important consideration, while unsuitable conditions delay production and make it more expensive. Thanks to effective planning, you can reduce logistics and storage costs.

Learn how to:

  • Implement Global OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) analytics for any plant or equipment
  • Apply predictive maintenance to reduce outages and costs
  • Intelligent remediation actions for any equipment

Demo:  Real-time telemetry analytics for manufacturers

Kevin Harmer, Chief Cloud Officer, Adastra
Elkin Arboleda, Sr. Consultant - Visualization, Adastra

Session 4: Yield Optimization

In today's data-driven world, cloud-enabled services allow manufacturing firms to obtain and utilize vast amounts of equipment data to ensure the optimization of their use. With the aid of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), data lake storage, and analytic approaches such as Machine Learning (ML), manufacturers can utilize aggregated production related data to minimize operational waste, ensure overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and ultimately optimize their returned yield to maximize their profits.

Learn how to:

  • Optimize equipment availability and efficiency in producing quality product through various ML techniques.
  • Interpret the optimal cycles for machines to be operational, in order to minimize production costs while maximizing quality production.
  • Forecast scrap production, to better identify how to minimize waste, through techniques such as image and sound detection.

Connor Wilkinson, Senior Data Scientist, Adastra

Session 5: Security and Compliance on AWS

It is estimated that there are about 20 billion IoT devices currently deployed worldwide.  Internet connected cameras, industrial sensors, probes, medical imaging systems and even coffee machines communicate with servers to collect valuable data.  These devices now outnumber non IoT devices and make up a large attack surface.  As corporate IT teams continue to secure traditional severs and endpoints, IoT devices are often overlooked and often include software that is vulnerable to attack.  In this discussion we will talk about published best practices to secure IoT devices.

Learn:

  • What manufacturing security best practices are and how to implement them

  • How to use AWS IoT Defender to:

    • Detect anomalies

    • Alert your IT staff of any potential risks

    • Empower IT staff to take swift remediation action to swiftly contain potential threats

    • Integrate AWS ML to automatically detect baseline IoT behavior and automate remediation tasks

Kuljit Chahal, Practice Lead, Cyber Security, Adastra
